Fundraiser honors three up and coming musicians

The Avanti Award 10th anniversary celebration is taking place next month in Marin County. This is a fundraiser for the Joseph and Frances Brucia Foundation.

The evening will start off with a reception where guests will enjoy appetizers and cocktails. It will be followed by a sit-down dinner and auctions. The winners of this year’s Avanti Award will be performing, as will several winners of past years.

This year’s award winners are cellist Matthew Linaman, classical singer Madelaine Matej, and Andrew Sandahl, who is a classical guitarist.

The mission of the Joseph and Frances Brucia Foundation is to give grants to emerging performing arts talents who live in the San Francisco Bay Area. Grants are given to artists of acoustic instruments and any Forms of singing. Theater and dance performances are also taken into consideration for the award.

No doubt the items up for bidding in the auctions were donated by local businesses in the area, possibly some located in San Rafael. Donators will no doubt be recognized with Banners or signage displayed beside the item.

The Avanti Award 10th anniversary celebration will be held at the Mill Valley Community Center on January 20 from 5:30 to 9:00 PM. Tickets are $150 each. For more information about this event or the Foundation itself, contact Lauren Howard at 415-246-7159.
