Community Support Agriculture picks up in the Bay Area

Residents of the Bay Area who wish to stay safe and keep eating healthy, locally produced food are pushing up the demand for Boxes of prepackaged vegetables which, are known as Community Support Agriculture.

Supermarkets are implementing similar offerings. The shoppers can now go through the aisles themselves or let the supermarket put together an assorted box. Consumers who choose the latter will not even have to leave their cars.

The Agriculture Institute of Marin launched its very own “Bounty Box” which is a selection of fruits and vegetables put together by the farmers who sell at AIM official markets. Orders are placed online and then people show up on what would have been market day to collect the Boxes. These Boxes can be picked up from the Marin Civic Center in San Rafael, Grand Lake Theater in Oakland and Clement Street in San Francisco. Logo Design is often used to brand ideas like this.

Andy Naja-Riese who is AIM’s CEO commented to say that they were “blown away” by the uptake, especially since very little publicity had gone into the concept.

The Boxes from AIM go from $25 to $45 depending on how big they are. ABC7news.com reports that some other farms that have always been selling prepacked Boxes have so many orders now that they are struggling to meet the demand.
