Tegan and Sara are identical twins from Calgary, who began writing songs and performing when they were 15. They formed a band in 1995, which comprised just the two of them, without a drummer or bassist. Since the band was missing these members they called it Plunk, for “light funk.”
They recorded two demo albums in 1997, “Play Day” and “Who’s In Your Band?” using the recording studio at their school. The following year they won “Garage Warz,” a Calgary competition, and as a result, earned time in a studio. With this opportunity they recorded more demos--“Yellow Tape,” followed by “Orange Tape” and “Red Tape.” With these albums they were noticed and, in 1998, Tegan and Sara opened in Calgary for Hayden, their first major professional engagement.
They began to have real success in 2004 with “So Jealous,” their fourth album. Thus far, they have released ten studio albums, of which four have earned Gold status. Their latest, “Crybaby,” dropped in 2022. A review says:
“The entire show will leave you breathless and pumped. Beware the post-show blues, you are going to have to fight the urge to follow them to their next show.”
Tegan and Sara will be at Humphrey’s Concerts by the Bay on May 17. Promoters will often advertise events like this by using poster printing.Get a Free Quote for Tape
