Kenny G (Kenneth Bruce Gorelick) is a native of Seattle, Washington, who was ten when he began playing the saxophone. He played in the jazz band in high and began his professional career when he was 17, joining Barry White’s The Love Unlimited Orchestra.
His career as a solo artist took off when Arista Records signed him in 1982. “Kenny G,” his debut album, was released that same year and won a Gold rating from the RIAA. His second and third albums were certified Platinum, and his fourth solo album, 1986’s “Duotones,” was a smash, certified 5x Platinum and featuring “Songbird,” which became a hit single.
In 1992 he dropped “Breathless,” which was rated Diamond (12x Platinum). It is one of the top-selling instrumental albums of all time. He continued his success with “Miracles: The Holiday Album,” his first holiday effort, which sold more than 13 million Copies. His work can be heard in the soundtracks for films like “The Bodyguard,” and his has collaborated with major stars like Frank Sinatra and Andrea Bocelli. He released his most recent album “Innocence,” in 2023. A review says:
