When Poliça released their debut album “Give You the Ghost” in 2012, they won instant acclaim from synthpop fans. Their bass and drum sounds were lauded around the world as well, giving them the opportunity to tour with acts like The xx. Their most popular album thus far is 2013’s “Shulamith,” which featured their signature sound of goth pop mixed with R&B. The album went to the No. 1 slot on the U.S. Heatseekers Albums chart.
While their albums can evoke an ethereal feeling, their live shows are known the interaction between the performers.
Poliça was founded in Minneapolis and comprises Channy Leaneagh handling vocals and the synthesizer, bassist Chris Bierden, and two drummers, Drew Christopherson and Ben Ivascu. When the band records in the studio, Ryan Olson is their producer. They have released six albums thus far, dropping their latest effort, “Madness,” in 2022.
