Anyone interested in sportfishing, or learning more about it, has an event coming up just for them, provided it can go ahead amid coronavirus concerns.
The San Diego Sportfishing Council is holding its 41st Port of San Diego's Day at the Docks. Attendees will be able to learn about fishing and related activities. There will be seminars on fishing, where anglers can pick up some “insider tips” and “how tos” from the skippers of San Diego's fleet. In addition, Catalina Offshore Products will be on hand with their demonstrations of how to catch, prepare, and cook seafood.
The Everingham Bros. Bait Company and Okuma Fishing Tackle are hosting the Kids’ Fishing Adventure for youngsters from ages 4 to 12. Special areas will be stocked with fish, giving children an opportunity to try their hand at the sport. Experts from the San Diego Anglers and the San Diego Rod & Reel Club will be on hand to provide assistance.
Many other events are scheduled, including casting contests, a knot tying competition, fishing videos, and a gourmet galley serving Mexican, Thai, seafood, and more items. In addition, local harborside restaurants will have specials available. Boat rides on San Diego Bay will add to the fun, as will daylong performances on the Main Stage.
The Day on the Docks is scheduled for April 19, from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm, at the San Diego Sportfishing Landings at Garrison and Scott Streets. Flyer printing can be used to create handouts for events like this.
