Musiq Soulchild is a native of Philadelphia who made a reputation for himself as someone naturally gifted musically. He made the rounds of the open mic circuit, did some beat boxing for various MCs, and performed on the street, singing a capella.
The artist uses the name “Soulchild” as homage to the singers who have inspired him, including such giants as Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder. In 2016, he released “Life on Earth,” his seventh studio album, which featured “I Do,” a hit single. The album made it to No. 2 on the Billboard R&B album chart, and rose to No. 3 on the Top Hip-Hop R&B album charts.
Soul Train, BMI, ASCAP, BET, and Billboard have all honored Soulchild with awards, and he has been nominated for his work by the NAACP, the American Music Awards, and MTV. He has also been nominated for the Grammy more than ten times. A review of Soulchild in concert says:
“ABSOLUTELY LOVED EVERY MINUTE HE WAS PERFORMING!!!!! I can listen to him sing all day every day.”
Soulchild will be at The Music Box on November 22, at 8.30 pm. The doors will open at 7.00 pm, and tickets for the earlier date of this concert, which has been rescheduled, will be honored. Flyer printing is often used to help publicize events like this.
