A popular juice bar that closed several years ago is back, much to the delight of residents in San Diego’s North Park area.
Three years ago, Sacred Juice shut down due to water damage, leaving fans of its superfood smoothies wondering if they would be able to enjoy their favorite juices again. The answer is yes, as the operators of Sacred Juice have returned to open Rad Habits in the same space they formerly occupied. The owner, Jenna Keil, left to start a family, but has reopened with much the same products except she is now offering more superfoods, as well as a small number of breakfast items. The menu items are natural and organic, featuring such dishes as green goddess salads, a chia pudding with blue spirulina, and acai bowls full of seeds, nuts, fruits, and occasionally medicinal fungi like chaga, reishi, and cordyceps, which offer good nutrition.
Smoothies made with organic products tend to be in the $10-$12 range, and contain some intriguing ingredients. For instance, the Ain't Nothin' but a B Thing is made with banana, vanilla protein, hemp hearts, and almond butter blended with house almond milk. Bee pollen is sprinkled on top, and since it contains blue spirulina, the drink is a bright blue color.
