Barons Market, an all-natural, locally owned grocery store, plans to open in North Park, a San Diego neighborhood, soon.
Barons will take over a former Fresh & Easy store, made available after that chain closed all of its locations in San Diego County last fall. To date, three other Barons are open in the county: in Rancho Bernardo, Alpine, and Point Loma. The Point Loma and North Park stores are the only two in the city proper. This store will be sited at 3231 East University Avenue.
The new market will feature a salad, antipasto, and soup bar, and a vinegar and olive oil bar. It also plans to carry more than 400 different microbrews. According to Rachel Shemirani, Barons' Vice President of Marketing, North Park and the Barons chain are a “match made in food heaven”. Shemirani says the stores all stock craft beer, wholesome food, and produce that is locally grown, all of which are important to the residents of North Park.
Not only does the store bring a new food option to residents, but it also brings 30 jobs to the area. The new location is expected to open later in 2016.
When the market opens, managers might consider creating festive Banners to celebrate both the store and the season, since the opening will occur near the holidays.
