Kat Von D may be best known as a tattoo artist and the star of the reality TV show “LA Ink,” but her background is in classical music. Now she is following her dream and local audiences will benefit.
Born Katherine von Drachenberg in Montemorelos, a community in the Mexican state of Nuevo León, Kat Von D was four when her family relocated to Colton, California, where she grew up, and where she studied classical piano, starting at age six. She also enjoyed punk rock, got her first tattoo at age 14, and left school to concentrate on tattooing when she was 16.
In addition to appearing on several successful television series, she is an author, but music remained her first love. She finally released her first album, “Love Made Me Do It,” in 2021. Later that year she released “Exorcisms,” an EP, featuring “Exorcism,” a single she worked on with Gunship, one of the best synthwave artists in the world. Her second album, “My Side of the Mountain” dropped in 2024. A concert review says:
“She really puts on a show, with her contortionist and everything! I loved it!”
Kat Von D will be at the Music Box in San Diego on November 11. Organizers of shows like this may decide to ask professional printers to use poster printing to create advertising.
