October brings cooler weather, Halloween, and free admission for kids to many museums in and around San Diego.
The program known as “Kids Free in October” is back again, with children being admitted free of charge to 40 museums throughout San Diego County throughout the entire month of October.
This is the ninth year for the program, which is designed to encourage families to explore the dozens of museums in the city and surrounding area. The program is hosted by the San Diego Museum Council, which said that last year, over 15,000 children visited historic sites, garden, aquariums, the various zoo facilities, and museums.
Nicole Miller-Coleman, the executive director of the council, said that museums can provide powerful experiences to children, and by offering free admission, families have a chance to visit a new facility or go back to a favorite, and save money at the same time.
Families can obtain passes for two children for each adult ticket they buy, by going to the Museum Council’s website and downloading the coupon for Kids Free in October. Once they get to the museum of their choice, all they need to do is hand in the coupon at the admission desk.
Some of the city’s most-visited museums are participating, including Birch Aquarium, the Maritime Museum of San Diego, the San Diego Air & Space Museum, the San Diego Museum of Art, and the San Diego Natural History Museum. Poster printing can be used to call attention to events like this.
