San Diego is famous as the home of the hugely popular Comic-Con International, but there are other cons here as well, and one is coming up soon.
Billed as the “Awesomest Pop Culture and Fandom Convention”, Fangaea is coming to town for the fourth time, featuring virtual reality, martial arts, vendors, an escape room, video games, art, cosplay, comics, anime, steampunk, sci-fi, and a lot more. Fangaea is dedicated to fandom, and fans of all genres are welcome.
The convention will be held at the Scottish Rite Event Center on Camino del Rio South. In addition to the vendors and cosplayers, a lineup of panel discussions is planned where attendees can hear about such subjects as how to break into the industry.
Hands-on DIY projects are planned, as are pirates, fandom merchandise, Apparel, musicians, tournaments, gaming, and fashion shows courtesy of cosplayers. Events like this are more fun when organizers use flyer printing to create handouts with schedules, so fans know where and when to find activities that interest them.
Fangaea is set for Saturday, April 23. General Admission for a single day bought prior to the event is $20 for adults, and $5 for children between the ages of 5 and 12. Kids under five will be admitted free. Prices at the door are $25 for adults and $10 for children. Fangaea warns that any photos taken may be used without permission, but individuals will not be identified.
