A group that began as a duo and went on to become a hit rock band is coming to San Diego.
Counting Crows got started in San Francisco in 1991, when vocalist Adam Duritz and David Bryson, a guitarist, decided to form an acoustic duo. They found their beginning by playing in San Francisco’s coffee shops, but were more interested in developing a band and launching a recording career. The formula worked, as the band has sold over 20 million records across the globe.
The band’s breakthrough came in 1993, when they were asked to substitute for Van Morrison at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. That same year, Geffen Records signed them, and they released “August and Everything After,” their debut, on that label.
The band released “Recovering the Satellites,” their second album, in 1995, and in 1996, it climbed to No. 1, and the tracks “Have You Seen Me Lately” and “A Long December” were solid hits.
Counting Crows has also been successful in the work for the film industry. The soundtrack to the film “Shrek 2” featured their hit “Accidentally in Love,” and won them nominations for a Golden Globe, Oscar, and a Grammy.
Counting Crows will be at San Diego on September 3, appearing at the Rady Shell at Jacobs Park. When concerts like this are planned organizers can use poster printing to create advertising.
