A political commentator, producer, writer, comedian, and television host from South Africa is coming to San Diego for a stand-up set.
Trevor Noah was born in Johannesburg in 1984, and began his career in 2002 in South Africa, when he appeared in an episode of a South African soap opera, in a small role. He was also hosting his own radio show, “Noah’s Ark.” His friends challenged him to perform comedy at a nightclub. His initial performances were so well received that he left his radio show to concentrate on comedy. His breakthrough in the US came when he hosted “The Daily Show,” from 2015 until 2022.
He has won numerous awards, including two Primetime Emmy Awards, and the Hollywood Reporter named him one of “The 35 Most Powerful People in New York Media” in 2017 and again in 2018. Also in 2018, Time magazine selected him as one of the world’s 100 most influential people. He went on to win the Erasmus Prize in 2023, an honor conferred by the Praemium Erasmianum Foundation, a Dutch cultural institution, for extraordinary contributions to social science, society, or culture in Europe and throughout the world.
Noah has hosted the Grammy Awards four times, as well as the 2022 White House Correspondents Dinner.
Trevor Noah will be at the San Diego Civic Theatre on April 11. When events like this are scheduled, organizers will often use poster printing to create suitable advertising.
