One of the world’s most renowned vocalists is coming to San Diego.
Andrea Bocelli is a multi-instrumentalist and operatic tenor who was born in La Sterza, Italy. When he was five months old, he was diagnosed with congenital glaucoma, and lost his sight completely when he was twelve. He sang locally, then broke through in 1994 when he won the 44th San Remo Music Festival.
Bocelli moves between opera and pop music, winning awards for both. He has released 17 studio albums, 14 complete opera albums, and other projects that have racked up more than 90 million sales in total. Among the albums are those devoted to cinematic works, sacred arias, and one celebrating Giuseppe Verdi.
His 2018 album “Si” became one of his biggest successes. Bocelli’s sons Amos and Matteo appear on the album, as does operatic soprano Aida Garifullina and pop star Ed Sheeran. His latest effort is the studio album “Believe,” released in 2020.
Audiences will hear arias from the operas “Lucia di Lammermoor,” “La Traviata,” and “Tosca,” as well as Neapolitan classics, Broadway hits, and more. A review says:
