Chris Isaak has become famous for his extensive vocal range, and for his signature song, the haunting “Wicked Game.” The guitar throughout the song, especially the introduction, has a lot of reverberation and brings a strange, almost mystical quality to the piece, enhanced by Isaak’s vocal power.
Isaak released the song in 1989 as a single, but it didn’t take off until 1990, when David Lynch used it in his film “Wild at Heart,” after which it climbed into the Top 10. Isaak’s other hits include “Somebody’s Crying,” and “Blue Hotel,” all of which were successful internationally.
The artist has 13 studio albums to his credit, many of which have been certified either Gold or Platinum. “Heart Shaped World,” which contains “Wicked Game,” won a 2x Platinum certification from the RIAA.
Isaak has also enjoyed a successful acting career, appearing in such films as “The Silence of the Lambs,” and “Married to the Mob.” He has also appeared in two television series.
A concert review says:
“It’s an extraordinary performance in fact, something they just don’t teach anymore . . . it’s an art that’s dying out — the all-around entertainer.”
Chris Isaak will be at Humphreys Concerts by the Bay on September 4. When they organize events like this, promoters will often advertise them using poster printing.
