Pleasant Hill to feature school climate symposium

The Contra Costa County Office of Education (CCCOE) will be hosting the 2nd Annual Contra Costa County School Climate Symposium this March in Pleasant Hill.

The Contra Costa County School Climate Symposium is an event that discusses topics regarding school culture and mindfulness. Lessons taught during the symposium will help educators understand how to take care of their well-being and teach their students without biases. Several people will be attending the event to hold panels, including Dr. Megan Sweet and Mirko Chardin. Organizations that have presentations similar to this can use Print shops to make Posters that advertise the event in advance.

Sweet is the author of the book An Educator’s Guide for Using Your 3 Eyes and is also a director of training. She will be leading the discussion on why mindfulness is a powerful tool that can be used to change education. Chardin works with Novack Educational Counseling and will be discussing the impact that teacher biases and expectations have on students. Staff members from Pleasant Hill Elementary School will also be attending and will talk about their personal experiences.

The 2nd Annual Contra Costa County School Symposium will be held on Wednesday, March 4th from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. Tickets to the presentations will cost each person $20, in addition to a fee from Eventbrite. All attendees will be given a $20 refund when they go to the symposium.
