Sustainable Contra Costa will be holding a gala in September at the Pleasant Hill Community Center.
The 14th Annual Sustainability Awards Gala & Fundraiser is an event where local individuals and organizations are recognized for their contributions toward creating a healthier environment. The gala will also present the Pollution Prevention Awards and highlight re-certified green businesses.
This year, the theme of the gala will be Homecoming. Food and beverages will be provided by partners such as the Mt. Diablo HS Hospitality Academy, Sunrise Bistro, and Captain and Viano Vineyards. Guests can also bid on local goods and services during the event's silent auction.
The money earned at the awards gala will benefit Sustainable Contra Costa. The organization was created in 2007 to help communities become more ecologically sustainable and economically vibrant. Local awards ceremonies like this may use poster printing to get more people interested in attending the parties.
The group has created challenges like the Cleaner Contra Costa Challenge to encourage people to make environmentally friendly choices at home. The nonprofit also holds events such as the Family Harvest Farm Volunteer Day and Water Conservation Showcase.
The sustainability gala will be held on Thursday, September 22nd from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The event will take place at the community center's Perera Pavilion and will cost guests $60 each. Ticket prices will increase by $15 after September 4th.
