Pleasant Hill Senior Center celebrates 70th anniversary with feast

The Choice in Aging Pleasant Hill Senior Center in California will be holding a crab feed honoring their 70th anniversary this February.

This year, the senior center will be hosting a 1970s-themed dinner as a nod to the milestone, so dressing in classic disco attire is welcomed. There will be multiple auctions that attendees can participate in during the feast. While the celebration advertises crab as the main course, guests attending the event can also choose chicken as their entree if they prefer. Each dinner will include bread, pasta, and salad in addition to the endless crab or chicken.

Choice in Aging is a private nonprofit rehabilitation services provider for the elderly that was first established in 1949. Their Pleasant Hill Senior Center works with clients to help monitor health, offer nursing services, and have different activities throughout the year to encourage activity. Daily programming for the center includes music and pet therapy, bingo, and seated volleyball. Choice in Aging can even accommodate those who speak Russian and Farsi, using printing services to publish newspapers in their native language.

The senior center’s 70th anniversary will be held on February 9 in the evening starting at 5:30 pm. Tickets for the event are available online with both the crab and chicken dinners costing $70. All beverages are to be purchased in advance by also ordering drink tickets online. Businesses interested in sponsoring the event can buy group tickets starting at $1,000.
