Pleasant Hill course to teach public safety skills to students

Touch of New Life will be offering a summer program in Pleasant Hill where high schoolers can get exposed to the public safety industry.

The Summer Youth Public Safety Academy is a course that places students into different public safety scenarios and provides hands-on training. Participants in the program will get to see medical emergency responses, crime scene investigations, and fire response situations. The attendees will also learn how public safety organizations hire and train their employees. The course even includes physical training sessions and daily uniform inspections.

Touch of New Life is an organization that holds youth programs to help teens reach their full potential in life. The founder of the group is Carmen Santana, a Richmond police officer who also has experience as a school resource officer. The director of the organization’s Youth Public Safety Academy is Ray Hernandez. Touch of New Life also offers employment preparation programs that teach high schoolers important soft skills.

The summer public safety academy will be held at Diablo Valley College from July 17 to July 27. Classes will take place from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. The programs offered by Touch of New Life are intended for students aged between 14 and 24. Groups that offer career-related classes like this to the community may use brochure printing to give students useful resources to take home.
