New cooking skills at Pleasant Hill virtual program

Those interested in brushing up on their culinary knowledge can attend a virtual course in February hosted by the Contra Costa County Library in Pleasant Hill.

Live Well: Cooking with Chef Martin Yan is an online program where viewers can learn how to create dishes from an experienced cook. The lesson is designed for all ages. People who sign up for the cooking course will receive Yan’s planned menu and ingredient list in advance, allowing guests to follow the show at home. The Friends of the Danville Library will sponsor the activity. Organizations can draw attention to programs like this using poster printing services.

Chef Martin Yan is a celebrity chef with over four years of culinary experience. He has several restaurants throughout North America and Asia and has written 32 cookbooks. Yan earned many awards during his career, including numerous James Beard Awards. He is also a culinary ambassador for Chengdu, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. The chef has traveled around the globe, sharing Chinese and American culture with his audiences.

The cooking show will be held on Tuesday, February 2 from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm. Those who register for the activity will be given a link to the Zoom meeting via email. Guests who want closed captioning must contact the library at least 72 hours before the program. People unable to see the show live can view it later on the library’s YouTube page.
