Hiking experience planned for Pleasant Hill

A hiking adventure is scheduled for the Pleasant Hill area, providing an opportunity for hikers and nature enthusiasts to lace up their boots, fill a water bottle, and hit the trail.

The Shell Ridge Open Space Loop hiking event will provide Pleasant Hill residents with an immersive nature experience. The trail will take attendees through an oak forest filled with blooming wildflowers and vistas of Mount Diablo in the distance. Participants will exit the forest to enjoy a mountain lake at the end of the hike.

Attendees are encouraged to bring plenty of water and snacks to remain refreshed during the hiking excursion. Hiking boots or sturdy shoes with grip are recommended for safety on the trail.

In the event that there is heavy rain on the morning of the hike, the event will be cancelled. Attendees should note that they will not have access to a restroom.

Flyer printing can be a useful way to build awareness of events like this around the community.

The hike is rated as moderate difficulty. Over the 3.5 miles of trail, hikers will gain 600 feet of altitude. Jennifer Russell, a Save Mount Diablo Hike Leader, will head the excursion.

The hike will start at Walnut Creek Open Space on Thursday, April 4, beginning at 10:00am. Interested parties are encouraged to reserve a spot on the hike online.
