Grand 4th of July celebrations in the pipeline

Pleasant Hill is pulling out all the stops to celebrate Independence Day in just over a week’s time.

The day begins at 8:00 am with the annual Firecracker 5K Fun Run, with proceeds benefiting local schools. Next comes the Fourth of July parade at 9:30 am, followed at 10:30 by an old-fashioned Independence Day Celebration at the park. Between 6:30 pm and 7:00 pm the focus switches to College Park High School here in Pleasant Hill, where the fireworks display is scheduled.

This year’s parade theme is ‘Hats Off To America’, and awards are up for grabs for the best walking and motorized floats. Businesses that sponsor the entries could increase their promotional benefits by dispensing small, patriotic themed promotional gifts with their contact information. Local Print companies can assist with promotional product ideas and other strategies to increase name recognition.

Immediately after the parade, attendees will find plenty of food, contests, games, and lively entertainment to fill the day in the park. New this year will be the 1st Annual Pleasant Hill 4th of July Commission Art Show.

Starting at 6:30 pm, on the grounds of College Park High School, The Slow Hand BBQ Restaurant and Stone Cold Creamery will be selling mouthwatering BBQ, fried ice cream, and funnel cakes. Live music will be provided by the Public Eye.

Attendees are reminded to bring a blanket to sit on and sweaters to keep warm. Fireworks begin at dusk, approximately 9:10 pm.
