Visitor Services Park Aides will be needed for the Antelope Valley poppy season this spring.
California State Parks will be hiring 10 people who will be reporting out of the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve, which is in Lancaster.
The State Park Ranger will be overseeing these positions which pay between $12.42 and $14.51 an hour. Among the duties of these aides will be to collect park fees, operate the entrance station at the poppy reserve, and take care of cash register accounting and paperwork at the end of the day. These aides will also be a main contact point for visitors and explain and advise visitors regarding park rules; provide information for the parks; and give directions to facilities in the park, as well as area establishments and features. Flyer printing is often used to advertise such positions in an area.
Skills required for these positions include basic math, reading, and writing capabilities and the ability to report problems and issues in the park to staff. Work locations are remote so there is a need to reliable transportation, as well as a valid class C driver’s license. Those hired for these positions will need to pass a live Department of Justice scan and are required to purchase and wear a state parks uniform.
The start date is Monday, February 1.
