New test center to come to Lancaster area

Construction is scheduled to begin at Edwards Air Force Base in California on a new Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) facility of the Air Force test Center.

The JSE will provide a state-of-the-art simulation and modeling space for next-generation and beyond operational test, developmental test, and high-end advanced tactics and training development for the warfighter. It is expected that 50 jobs in cybersecurity, engineering, computer science, and electronic-engineering technologies will be created by the facility which may be of interest to residents of Lancaster. The JSE will span 72,000 square feet and is expected to cost $34.4 million.

The JSE will have support space for knowledge management, data analysis, space, and cyber test operations; test control rooms; and space for eight High-Fidelity Dome Simulators and other dome simulators. Such projects often require the use of printing services to create Flyers and other pieces with more details about such projects to mail to those in the area.

Air Force Test Center commander, Major General Christopher Azzano, said that the impact of the JSE over the long term will be “key to [its] evolution”, and the “backbone” for both virtual and live constructive training and testing, He added it will be able to duplicate environments of high threat that cannot be created with resources for open air testing.

Construction will begin next month and is planned to be completed by August of next year.
