New cafeteria opens at college in Lancaster

A new café is now open on the campus of Antelope Valley College (AVC) in Lancaster. This is welcome news for employees and students at the college, as the café has been closed for the past year and there has been no vendor for food since May 2022.

Breakfast, lunch, snacks, and beverages will be offered at the new AVC Café. Each day, there will be a soup of the day, as well as an entrée and grill options with grab-and-go items to include sandwiches, parfaits, and salads. There will also be vegetarian and vegan options.

Improvements to the café include painting of the walls and floors, cove tile on the floor along one wall, and an additional hand sink in the sink. The kitchen has also been deep cleaned.

The arts and humanities department have partnered with the café to provide entertainment to make a destination for students, faculty, and staff. Schedules of such entertainment can be made available to the college community with flyer printing.

Jennifer Zellet, Superintendent and President of AVC, said that James Nasipak, Director of Auxiliary Services, and his team have been working hard to get the café opened in time for the start of classes. Nasipak added that the food will be delicious, and it will be exciting to have people back in the space, enjoying a meal.
