A proposed amendment to the Community Development Block Grant and HOME Investment Partnerships of the city of Lancaster aim to set aside funds for a first-time home-buyers program. They will also be looking to reallocate grant funds to improve Webber Pool and Mariposa Park.
The goals of this amendment are to promote opportunities for home ownership, preserve affordable housing, and create fair housing services. Flyer printing can be used to inform the community of such initiatives and their benefits.
An amount of $500,000 would be allocated to Webber Pool to replace the filtration system, pool boiler, and pump and to bring the pool up to the standards required for operation beyond the summer months.
An additional $713,176 would be allocated to Mariposa Park to replace the flooring and playground equipment to meet the standards of the American with Disabilities Act. The two restrooms would be renovated and interior concrete sidewalks and tables, chairs, and drinking fountains would be replaced. Over 186,000 residents would benefit from both projects.
A first-time home buyer program would be created with funding of $1.09 million that would provide eligible buyers with financial assistance towards the purchase of a home. An amount of $101,420 would be allocated so that the 15 percent minimum requirements for the first-time home buyer program could be set aside for the Community Housing Development Organizations.
