Lancaster to hold an antelope artwork contest
The Public Art Division of the city of Palmdale and the Lancaster Museum of Art and History (MOAH) have announced the opening of submissions for “Antelopes on Parade.”
This is a celebration of the region of Antelope Valley and invites local artists to create original artwork on antelope sculptures made of fiberglass. This year, four antelope designs will be selected, with two designs from Lancaster and two from Palmdale and these will be displayed throughout the two cities.
The Lancaster Museum of Art and History is dedicated to increasing awareness and appreciation of history, culture, and art in the Antelope Valley through community engagement, educational programs, exhibitions, and a collection that celebrates the richness of the region.
The deadline for artists to submit their designs is Monday September 9 at 5:00 p.m. Notifications of those selected to be displayed will be Wednesday September 11. Those who are selected will receive a stipend of $100 for materials and an honorarium of $250. Antelopes will be delivered to the selected artists on Monday September 16. Completed antelopes will be picked up by staff from MOAH on Tuesday October 8 and Wednesday October 9.
