The Board of Education of the Lancaster School District has approved a contract with Leadership Associates, an executive search firm, to carry out a search for a new superintendent. The contract will cost the city $24.500.
The firm has conducted searches for superintendents for the Antelope Valley Union High School District and the Acton-Agua Dulce Unified School District over the past year. Such firms may engage various kinds of printing services to post such openings and opportunities not only in the local area but across the state as well.
The current superintendent, Michele Bowers, is retiring at the end of this school year. She has been in that position for the past 10 years and has spent 21 years as an educator. She was named the Los Angeles County Superintendent of the Year in 2020 partially for her leadership during the first year of the pandemic.
In addition, Bowers brought several programs to the district including dual immersion language programs and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). She also expanded programs in the visual and performing arts and opportunities for increased learning. Bowers expressed her excitement over what has been accomplished over the past 10 years.
Those who interested in applying for this position can do so until Monday February 28. It is expected that the new superintendent will start in the role on July 1.
