Lancaster company supplies new all-electric buses

New all-electric buses were recently put into service by the Chattanooga Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA) and will be added to its service fleet of fixed route vehicles.

The busses, which are 35 feet in length, were manufactured in Lancaster by Build Your Dream (BYD). Officials have said that these battery-operated electric busses are the first such vehicles put into service around the world. BYD considers itself as “the official sponsor of Mother Nature” and was founded in 1995.

Lisa Maragnano, Executive Director of CARTA, said that the public transit system is very excited about these new busses, which came about as a result of a partnership with Momentum Dynamics, that produces the inductive wireless charging system for the busses, and BYD. These busses charge quickly, travel up to 150 miles on a single charge, and produce no emissions while in service. These factors made for the ideal solution to move from diesel buses to all-electric buses on the fixed route service.

Such transit systems can use Promotional Products to advertise the addition of such vehicles to its fleet and their many features.

Maragnano added that many factors distinguish BYD from its competitors. Their vehicles have a long battery life, are safe and considered high-performance, and are affordable as compared to diesel vehicles, CNG, and other alternatives. The company is also very committed to sustainability and being friendly to the environment.
