Lancaster art museum hosts new exhibit

Desert Cuts is a new exhibit that is now open at the Lancaster Museum of Art and History (MOAH). The exhibit is a collection of works by Lorraine Bubar, an artist and educator at the Elyze Clifford Interpretive Center (ECIC) in the Prime Desert Woodland Preserve in Lancaster.

Poster printing can be used to promote such exhibits through a city and neighboring communities.

The exhibit includes print reproductions of the artwork cut from paper, which Bubar created during her residency of six months at ECIC. This took place from January to June of this year. Bubar was inspired by the landscape of the Mojave Desert and her works of layered and colorful paper pieces capture the unique fauna and flora of that environment. Bubar describes her work as “painting with paper” as these designs embody themes of movement, the hierarchies of life in the desert, and metamorphosis, all while celebrating the ecosystems that are found in that type of locale.

Bubar is an art educator, and is a passionate advocate for the arts. Her Bachelor of Arts degree is from the University of California, Los Angeles. She spent many years in the animation industry, and her work included special effects for feature films and animating television commercials. Her teaching career began at Santa Monica College followed by teaching high school students in west Los Angeles.

This exhibit will be on display until Sunday December 14.
