Making a swing through Lancaster this month is part of the U.S. Air Force Band of the Golden West, the Commanders Jazz Ensemble.
Directed by Master Sgt. Jeremiah True and based at Travis Air Force base, the group will provide a free one-night concert here in Lancaster. Following in the footsteps of the great big bands of the past, but with a wider range of styles, the ensemble tours the country, but appears mostly in the western states like Washington and California.
Numbers likely to be heard during evening include not only big band era music, but also Latin rhythms, several varieties of jazz, popular tunes, and patriotic music. The group has performed on radio and television, in addition to its live concert appearances. A special feature for each concert is the late Maj. Glenn Miller tribute.
Although free to the public, tickets are required and can be picked up at the Lancaster Performing Arts Center Box Office. The tickets will be made available noon to 6:00 pm weekdays, and on Saturdays from noon to 4:00 pm.
Advertising for the concert via a flyer printing service, combined with the services provided by banner printing company, can most effectively inform the public of this event.
The Commanders Jazz Ensemble’s Lancaster performance will be at 7:00 pm on February 23.
