Ending homelessness gains support in Lancaster

A new organization, Hope of the Antelope Valley, has been launched in Lancaster and will be an initiative to end homelessness in the area. It will be led by Billy Nettles.

Poster printing is often used to announce such initiatives so the homeless know where to go to find shelter and resources.

Founder and chief executive officer of Hope of the Valley, Ken Craft, said that Nettles is ideal for the position as he is so passionate about the mission of the organization. He expressed his excitement about this new initiative in the city as he is confident that Nettles will be able to make homelessness a thing of the past in the area.

Nettles said that his goal is to provide transitional shelter, outreach, and engagement until people have a new mindset and can find permanent housing. He added that:

“We believe that it’s not enough to just give people a place to live. We have to help them learn how to live as if they could never be back to where they are.”

The launching of this new organization will kick off the Ulta-Marathon of the Hope of the Valley. Rowan Vansleve, chief financial officer of Hope of the Valley, and Craft will run over a period of nine days visiting the organization’s 19 locations to raise $200,000 to support the elimination of homelessness.

Nettles will assume his role on April 1.
