Capital campaign announced by Lancaster

Details of the 2015 The Lancaster City Fire Foundation capital campaign fund were announced this month.

The goal for the city’s 2015 Fire Foundation’s capital campaign is $300,000, which will be used to acquire new radio equipment. The need for radios is tied to a county emergency radio system overhaul that was recently completed, the changeover of which is expected to take place during the first three months of this year.

Lancaster’s fire chief, Tim Gregg, has set a goal of ensuring that each command vehicle as well as each of his firefighters is has a brand new radio. The sought-after radios will be the multichannel variety that will permit communication with police and emergency crews at the scene, in addition to communication within the department. The cost to provide each firefighter with a radio is anticipated to be around $3,500.

Another goal for the foundation in 2015 is to outfit the department’s Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) with its own vehicle and relevant equipment. According to protocol, the RIT is to be on the scene of all two-alarm or larger fires. Their job is to assist an individual trapped in a fire, be it a firefighter or member of the public.

Informing the public of any fundraising events, as well as apprising them of the needs and inner workings of their local fire department is a job, for which a printing service is well equipped.
