Major players in the harsh electronic body music (EBM) scene are on the way to Downey.
FGFC820 was created in 2004, the brainchild of two well-respected DJs in New York City, Dräcos Strecker and Rexx Arkana. Influenced by works that range from modern gabber to old-time industrial music, the duo have combined to develop a sound that is both rhythmic and melodic, a product that one reviewer said brought the 'thump' back to EBM.
EBM is a subgenre of industrial music, which has been defined as an aggressive blend of electronic music and rock. Industrial music often uses upsetting themes and lyrics to challenge the “rules” of musical composition. Many industrial artists said they wanted to use their music specifically to create social change.
Arkana has over 20 years in the music business, and has worked with long-time artists in the industrial music scene, such as Ministry and Skinny Puppy, to up-and-comers like VNV Nation. Arkana also founded the supergroup Bruderschaft.
For his part, Dräcos has performed live with the Disciples of Astaroth, an industrial group, and recorded with them. He also worked as a DJ in New York City, which led to other gigs in Leipzig, Germany and Mexico City. Together, he and Arkana deliver social messages with a driving beat.
FGFC820 will be at the Stardust Club in Downey on August 8, from 9:30 pm until 2:00 am the following morning. Flyer printing can provide advertising for events like this.
