Next month, the nonprofit Thinkers 4 Autism will host the T4A 4th Annual Autism Awareness Fair just outside of Downey in Norwalk for children with autism and their families.
Thinkers 4 Autism was founded by a newly widowed mother who struggled with finding qualified and compassionate childcare for her son with autism, and so she started the nonprofit to create a place where overburdened parents of children on the spectrum could come for helpful resources, information, and respite care. The organization also provides a safe and nurturing environment for children on the spectrum to be around qualified adults who understand their unique needs and respond appropriately.
The fair will provide exhibitions and activities that will showcase the various resources and services that Thinks 4 Autism provides for children and their families. Organizers also hope to spread awareness of what it is like to live with or care for someone on the autism spectrum, including dispelling any myths. The event will include a kid’s sensory zone, parent resources center, vendors marketplace, music and entertainment, and giveaways of items like Promotional Products.
The autism awareness fair is scheduled for Sunday, May 1 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. It will take place at the Norwalk Arts & Sports Complex on 13000 Clarkdale Avenue, Norwalk, just four miles from Downey. Admission is free.
