Los Angeles zoo comes alive for Halloween

Those who live in Downey will want to visit the nearby Los Angeles Zoo over the next week to see the special mysterious and spooky attractions for Halloween.

This weekend, there will be demonstrations of pumpkin carvings and the chance to make spider web and bat crafts. The animals will also be feasting on seasonal treats such as squash and pumpkins.

During the week, people coming to the Zoo can explore its darkest caves and learn about the special powers of animals and, by using their senses, how they adapt at night to the dark.

At the ‘Animals and You’ stations, the more scary and crawly creatures can be touched by sticking out a hand gently yet bravely. This exhibit demonstrates the skin of some fascinating creatures.

Finally, for Halloween, some of the animals can become inspirations for innovative costumes for trick-or-treating. Kids that were once cats in grade school can now dress up as regal reptiles, complete with a tail and scales, having learned about them in the Zoo.

In addition, during the month of October, event snapshots will be able to be taken from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, with added activities this weekend. These pictures can then be used along with postcard printing so kids and their families can share their adventures with other more distant family members and friends.
