Downey workshop offers candle-making and libations

The Good Candle will present the Sip & Pour Party: A Candle-Making Experience in Downey next month for anyone interested in learning to make their own candles in a fun, casual atmosphere.

The Good Candle is a local small business specializing in 100% all-natural soy wax candles. The shop makes each candle in small batches to ensure that all are made with care, hence becoming a “good candle.” The shop also frequently hosts workshops and special events related to candle-making, such as the one taking place in March.

The workshop will teach attendees how to make two full-sized soy wax candles. Participants will learn how to melt soy wax, wick vessels, blend unique fragrances, and hand pour the wax into candle vessels. Organizers will provide all supplies and tools, including aprons. Once the candles have been poured and wicked, they will need around one to two hours to solidify. Attendees will be welcome to wait and enjoy drinks and refreshments, or they can leave and return to pick them up.

Craft workshops are frequently advertised in community newsletters or informative Brochures, which organizers can get printed at Print shops specializing in brochure printing and similar services.

The candle-making class is slated for Saturday, March 23 from 12:00pm to 3:00pm. The Good Candle is located at 8050 Florence Avenue. Tickets are priced at $75.
