Downey to welcome Latinx game developers

The 5th Annual Latinx Games Festival will be held in Downey next month to highlight the work of Latinx game developers and bring the community together through the love of video games.

The festival serves as a collaborative space to discuss topics pertaining to the video game industry and Latinx game developers, as well as connect attendees with career advancement and educational opportunities. The two-day festival will feature panel speakers, roundtable discussions, and sessions on career advancement. The event will enable gamers, developers, video game publishers, universities, and gaming enthusiasts to interact with each other in a dynamic environment to develop new ideas and shape the future of Latinx game development.

There will also be plenty of networking opportunities to connect different regions of the community. Organizers hope to nurture a DIY-based Latinx community so that members can share resources, ideas, and best practices. Lastly, the festival will showcase games developed by Latinx developers from around the word and amplify new talent. This kind of atmosphere may encourage attendees of such events to bring along with them a supply of Business Cards to hand out to potential connections.

The game developer festival is scheduled for September 23 through September 24. It will take place at the Columbia Memorial Space Center, located at 12400 Columbia Way. Ticket prices start at $29.99.
