The Irreverent Warriors Silkies Hike is scheduled to take place in Downey next month.
Irreverent Warriors organized this event as a means for veterans to give and receive support from other veterans, lower suicide rates and improve mental health.
This Downey hike is suited for national guards, reservists, veterans, and those who are on active duty. Civilians may attend the festivities that will take place prior to the hike and can wait along the trail at stop points. Organizers of similar events often favor poster printing as an efficient way to spread the word about an event across the community.
Those who participate in the hike are recommended to bring the following necessities with them: a backpack, water, snacks, a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, appropriate footwear, and an extra pair of socks and shirt.
Sign up fees for veterans cost $5 per ticket. Civilians can also opt to purchase tickets for up to five veterans. Everyone who attends must bring their IDs with them and wear the Irreverent Warriors wristbands that will be given out during registration. Participants are also recommended to bring cash in order to purchase drinks at rest stops, as well as their own water just in case.
The Irreverent Warriors Silkies Hike is set to be hosted on Saturday, November 7 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
