A popular donut store will be open in Downey soon.
Randy's Donuts, a chain of shops, is now 60 years old, and is known for the giant donut on top of the original store in Inglewood, which has become a Los Angeles landmark. The company opened new locations recently in Hollywood, El Segundo, and Century City, but did not install the famous rooftop donut. Instead, the shops' entrances are shaped like donuts.
However, the Downey store will go back to the original appearance of the Inglewood shop, including a drive-thru, and a giant donut sign, though it will be a little smaller than the 26-foot donut sitting atop the Inglewood store.
In addition, Randy's is planning indoor seating at the Downey store, and is reworking its espresso and coffee drink menu. When new locations like this open, managers might distribute Promotional Products to early customers to build brand recognition.
Randy's has opened four locations in Southern California since 2017, and recently announced it plans to expand into Palo Alto, San Jose, Berkeley, and San Francisco in 2020. The chain also has a presence overseas, and is going to increase the number of shops it has in South Korea and the Philippines. Most of the new locations, however, will not have the gigantic donut perched on the roof.
Randy's Donuts is planning to open in Downey in July, at a location on Firestone Boulevard.
