The City of Downey will host the Kids Cooking Camp: Little Italy! event in July for local kids to have fun learning how to cook popular Italian dishes.
Collaborating with various non-profit and private entities, the City of Downey often hosts activities and events to enrich the lives of its community members. These run the gamut from music lessons and dance classes to exercise classes and cooking workshops.
The July event will be a weeklong camp specifically designed for children. It will introduce them to the basics of cooking in a fun, casual environment. Staff from Parker-Anderson, an after-school enrichment program, will guide camp instruction. Attendees will learn how to make Italian dishes such as pasta primavera, Caesar salad, and tiramisu. There will also be vegetarian and nut-free dish alternatives for those with allergies and dietary restrictions. Parents will need to pay the $35 materials fee on the first day of camp.
After camp is over each day, campers are invited to attend Playground Adventures, a drop-in program where kids can enjoy supervised group activities such as sports, games, and crafts.
Organizers of community workshops like this may visit their local Stationery printers to get learning materials professionally printed.
The cooking camp will run from July 18 to July 22. It will take place at Golden Park on 8840 Golden Avenue, Downey. The registration fee is $179.
