Downey cooking camp to explore global cuisine
Downey parents should note that the summer camp Kids Cooking Camp: Around the World will be held in town this June for any aspiring young chefs to get a hands-on cooking experience.
The Kids Cooking Camp is a week-long camp that will take kids on a culinary adventure around the world as they are introduced to a variety of global food and ingredients. The recipes that students will explore include everything from appetizers and entrees to desserts and snacks. All of the food will be nut-free to accommodate allergies, and there will also be vegetarian options for those who abstain from animal products. The camp will also delve into proper dining etiquette, co-operation skills, and nutrition and healthy eating.
There will be a $35 materials fee due to camp instructors the first day of camp. There will also be the option to participate in Playground Adventures after the camp is over. Playground Adventures is a free drop-in program offering a variety of kid-friendly activities.
Instructional workshops tailored to child participants will often include visually appealing posters to facilitate learning. Local print shops specializing in poster printing can help organizers of events print their materials.
