Downey candle shop to hold craft class

Next month, The Good Candle in Downey will host the Sip & Pour Party: A Candle Making Experience.

The Good Candle is a local candle shop that makes hand poured candles made of 100% all-natural soy wax and phthalate-free fragrance oil. The candles are poured into reusable containers that can be repurposed into anything from Drinkware to storage containers once the wax melts down. The Sip & Pour Party will guide attendees step by step through creating their own hand poured candles.

Class instructors will demonstrate how to safely melt the soy wax, pour it into a pouring pitcher, blend fragrances, and hand pour the wax into whiskey glasses to make two soy candles. The candles will take around two to three hours to fully cool and solidify. During the wait, attendees will be treated to light eats and cocktails. The event is designed to provide a fun crafting experience, but it is not intended to act as a professional candle making class.

Crafting classes like this are often advertised on Flyers distributed in community areas. Organizers of such classes may decide to visit local Print shops specializing in flyer printing.

The candle making class is scheduled for Saturday, June 18. It will take place at South Building on 8050 Florence Avenue, Suite 101. Class registration is $75.
