Celebratory summer acts of benevolence contribute to community

LBS Financial, the credit union of the Long Beach School District Employees just south of Downey, is celebrating its 80th anniversary with its ‘Summer Acts of Kindness’ series.

As the name suggests, the program will include numerous events of giving back to the community.

Beginning this week, it will start a campaign of writing ‘thank you’ letters to deployed American troops, with the help of A Million Thanks, a nonprofit organization. At its various branches, its members can show their gratitude to the troops and write words of encouragement. The letters will be distributed by A Million Thanks, which will also make a donation to help out those deployed.

Another event starting this week is a reusable bag donation to the Food for Kids organization. Also this month, the credit union also plans a Feeding the Homeless event at the Long Beach Rescue Mission, and to sponsor a kayak trip with the Teachers’ Association of Long Beach.

According to Jeffrey Napper, LBS Financial President, the organization is proud of its service and is excited about these celebratory events that contribute to organizations promoting positive and inspirational causes in the community.

LBS Financial may create a special poster made with the help of a poster printing company for the 80th anniversary celebratory event, which takes place on September 13.
