Cal State Bakersfield is about to break into a new area offering a national center for high-speed rail projects by offering workforce training.
With a variety of elements needed to make this program successful, the university could greatly benefit from the services of a local Print company, perhaps using their Variable Data printing technology to communicate their program to various institutions, governments, and businesses.
The university has already held seminars on transportation systems and has hired an expert who specializes in high-speed rail to help develop courses for this curriculum. The university has also purchased a simulator to be shipped from overseas to help assist in the training.
The simulator will allow students to train by using real life conditions such as snow, sleet, and hail, which students will learn to navigate through. Training would be provided by the company that either wins the bid or engineers from other countries where high-speed rail is already widely used.
Although high-speed rail is often met with opposition, Cal State believes their program will open doors for many young students for future transportation needs. The university has made contact with the CEO of California High-Speed Rail Authority to make a commitment to help supply the industry’s needs via programs with the university, Bakersfield College, and the Kern High school district.
To gear up for the careers, the high school has introduced programs that will afford students hands-on experience such, as welding and metal fabrication.
