Local duffers golf for charities

Spring brings out charity golf tournaments, and Bakersfield’s Seven Oaks Country Club will be hosting two over the next couple of months.

On Monday, March 15, Seven Oaks Country Club, 2000 Grand Lakes Avenue, will be the location of this year’s JJ’s Legacy Day of Golf. The tournament will be to honor organ, tissue and eye transplant donors and recipients. Golfers will be able to bid for items in the online auction on their smartphones during play. Registration opens at 8:00 am.

Another charity golf tournament will take place at Seven Oaks Country on Monday, April 19 when Bakersfield 3 Charity and Kern Law Enforcement Association present their annual Tee Fore Three Golf Tournament. Proceeds will benefit the Kern Secret Witness program.

The event will begin with a shotgun start at 9:00 am. Winner of the Hole-in-One contest will receive $10,000 and other prizes will be awarded in the Longest Drive, Closest to the Hole, and Tee Box challenges. Prizes will also go to the teams that finish first ($1,000), second ($750), and third ($500). Beverage carts will be along the course and a catered lunch and raffle will follow play.

The tournament organizers are getting its event banner printing done. The banner will include each executive, platinum, gold, and silver sponsor’s logo design.
