Bakersfield College will no doubt be making a change to its usual event brochure printing, as its Student Government Association (BCSGA) has opted to present its Distinguished Speaker Series online.
The series brings speakers from around the world to discuss matters of international significance. It starts with Constitutional lawyer, bestselling author, columnist for Time, and Senior Editor for the Dispatch David French will be on BCSGA’s Facebook and Zoom on Tuesday, November 10, with sessions at 10:00 am and again at 2:00 pm. He will be discussing his next book, Divided We Fall.
Looking ahead into next year, On Tuesday, February 2 at 10:00 am and at 2:00 pm, USC Professor and Madden NFL game designer Gordon Bellamy will be discussing his USC Bridge incubator program. He is known for his 25 years of involvement in the gaming culture and industry.
Elaine Weiss, a suffrage activist, journalist, and author of The Woman’s Hour: The Great Fight to Win the Vote, will be the last guest of the 2020/2021 season. She will cover such topics as changing the Constitution, civic engagement, and voting rights. Her presentation is scheduled for Thursday, March 2 at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm.
