Branch supervisor Ariel Dyer, at the Northeast Bakersfield Library, is taking stock in the community by offering a variety of new trends. Among those trends is the summer movie series called “Flopbusters”.
She is hopeful to make the library not only a place where visitors can find the resources they need, but also a place where the community can gather to share their same interests.
Since she took the job in October, Dyer has added many events to the library that seem to piquing the interests of residents. Movies are popular with every age, so the library is excited to offer the ‘Summer Flopbusters’ series featuring movies that did not do so well in the theatres. Dyer is doing all she can to make her library branch as much of a destination as the two other branches in the Bakersfield library system, which are larger and have a greater attendance.
In order to provide the residents with information and keep them up to date on the branch’s events, the library could enlist the assistance of a local Print company to obtain Banners, Flyers, and even Direct Mail printing to spread the word.
The library also has traditional programs, including Reading Buddies, which has volunteers working with elementary students to read stories together. Typically, the volunteers are high school or college age students.
The Northeast Bakersfield Library is located at 3725 Columbus Street.
