In Bakersfield, this April will bring more than just showers, as it will be time for its annual Health Fair at Central Park.
The event will feature an assortment of displays, information, and activities that can help area residents to learn more about how they can live a healthy lifestyle. There will be free diabetes screening and details about how people can manage the disease and prevent it in the first place. Along with this, there will be blood pressure testing, vision screenings, and vaccinations for a variety of communicable diseases such as mumps, measles, and others. Nutrition counseling will be offered to anyone who is interested in learning how to make healthy eating choices, and a dentist has also volunteered to provide services for the day. There will be raffle draws, beverages, and other light refreshments.
The organizers of the fair noted that it is open to people of all ages, and they encourage families to come out together in support of good health. Anyone who plans on setting up a display or screening booth can have custom Business Cards prepared to hand out to anyone who requests their contact information if they can make an appointment for further care.
The event will open its doors at 10:00 am on April 1, and it will run until 2:00 pm in Central Park at Mills Creek. More information and contact details for the group organizing the event can be found on its Facebook page.
